Rash of Vehicle Burglaries on Geneva's East Side

Police Reports: A neighborhood in the area of Ridge Lane is hit with xyz vehicle burglaries in one night.

Geneva police are investigating five vehicle burglaries that took place between Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 on Geneva's East side and two other vehicle burglaries on the West Side in late July.

The seven vehicle burglaries are worth noting, and to keep their cars locked and secure as often as possible. Global Positioning System units and cash or change often are targets.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took a pink Garmin Nuvi GPS and power cord from a Silver Suzuki Grand Vitara parked in the driveway of a residence in the 100 block of Ridge Lane sometime between 8 p.m. Aug. 2 and 8 a.m. Aug. 3, reports said. The Garmin was valued at $150. (Note: This was the department’s sixth report of this nature since Aug. 2.)

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took about $20 in cash from  a Mercury Mountaineer parked in the driveway of a residence at 100 block of Ridge Lane sometime between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 2, Geneva police reports said. The resident said she noticed the driver’s door of the Mountaineer was ajar. She said the offender had removed several CD cases from the center console and left them on the front passenger seat.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took a Megellan GPS from a Ford Explorer parked in the driveway of a residence in the 100 block of Briar Lane sometime between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 2, Geneva police reports said. The GPS was valued at $40. The owner said she returned to her residence after visiting the park at the end of the block and discovered the front passenger door of her Explorer ajar.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took $70 in cash, $20 in change and two baby dolls from a Cadillac Eldorado parked in the 800 block of Valley Lane sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Aug. 2, Geneva police reports said. The car burglary was discovered when police canvassed the neighborhood following similar reports.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took an iPod Video from the dock on a dashboard of an Oldsmobile Bravada parked in the 800 block of Valley Lane sometime between 3:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Aug. 2, Geneva police reports said.  The value of the iPod Video was estimated at $100.

And on the West Side of town, at a different date ...

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took about $5 worth of coins from a cup holder located in the dashboard of a GMC Envoy parked in the driveway of a residence in the 700 block of Dow Avenue sometime between 12:15 a.m. July 28 and 1 p.m. July 30, Geneva police reports said.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took an MP3 audio adapter cable from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 1200 block of Keim Court sometime between 8 p.m. July 30 and 7 a.m. July 31, Geneva police reports said. On the morning of July 20, the resident said she found the door ajar to her husband’s Dodge Avenger, which had been left unlocked overnight, but nothing appeared to be out of place. At 7 a.m. July 31, her husband found the glove compartment drawer ajar. There was no sign of forced entry, but the MP3 audio adapter cable was missing. It was valued at $5.
