Pre-Christmas Mailbox Manglings

Police reports: Two mailboxes broken on the appropriately named Bent Tree Drive; another pried open on Simpson Street.

Two roadside mailboxes were damaged on Bent Tree Drive and another was pried open in the foyer of a residence on Simpson Street.

Criminal Damage to Property—Someone damaged two roadside mailboxes in the 2100 block of Bent Tree Drive sometime prior to 7:23 a.m. Dec. 15, reports said. The first was damaged sometime between 6:45 p.m. Dec. 14 and 7 a.m. Dec. 15. Police said it looked like someone pushed against the mailbox, causing it to break in half. The estimated cost to repair the box is $150. The second was discovered by police while investigating the first. Cost to repair that mailbox was estimated at $75.

Theft Under $300—Someone pried open a mailbox in the foyer of a residence in the 0-100 block of Simpson Street around 9 p.m. Dec. 21, reports said. The resident said an unknown amount of mail was taken and told police this was the second time someone had broken into the mailbox. She could not remember the date of the first incident, reports said.
