Police Reports: Car Drives Into Retention Pond at Bricher and Peck

Elburn man becomes "disoriented and unconscious," and car ends up in a pond.

A Mercury Mariner driven by Scott Bethel, 55, of Elburn drove across two lanes of traffic until it ran into a retention pond at the southeast corner of Bricher Road and Peck Road, reports said.

The Mariner was travelling west in the 3400 block of Bricher Road around 3:30 p.m. Feb. 16, when Bethel “became disoriented and unconscious,” reports said.

Witnesses told police the Mariner was driving west when it veered south across the lanes of traffic and “came to a stop in a retention pond on the south side of the roadway.”

The driver was transported to Delnor Hospital, reports said.
