Police Report Says Batavia Man Injured on March 11 Kirk Road Motorcycle Accident

Geneva police reports reveal that it was an Aurora woman's vehicle that struck a Batavia man's motorcycle on Kirk Road and Route 38 on March 11.

Police reports show that an Aurora woman was cited after her vehicle struck a motorcycle at Kirk and East State Street on March 11, sending the motorcycle driver to the hospital.

A Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Alicia Diaz, 34, of Aurora struck the rear of a Suzuki Katana motorcycle driven by Jeffrey Wiedemann of Batavia around 3:19 p.m. March 11 at the intersection of Kirk Road and East State Street, reports said.

Reports said Diaz’ Santa Fe was stopped behind Wiedemann’s Suzuki in the inside southbound lane of North Kirk Road, waiting for the light at East State Street. Diaz “started to accelerate when she realized the traffic signal was still red,” and struck the Suzuki. There were three passengers in the Hyundai.

Wiedemann was transported to Delnor Hospital.

The crash caused traffic to be stopped briefly on soutbound Kirk on March 11. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Diaz was cited under 5/11-601 (a) of the Illinois Vehicle Code (General Speed Restrictions), which says “speed must be decreased as necessary to avoid colliding with any person or vehicle.”
