Police Nab Man Suspected of Geneva Bank Robbery

St. Charles police arrest Dane R. Phenegar on Dec. 22. He faces charges of robbing an Elgin bank and is suspected of bank robberies in Geneva, Wheaton and Glendale Heights.

FBI officials suspect that a man arrested for an Elgin bank robbery might also be the man who on Dec. 5.

The St. Charles Police Department arrested Dane R. Phenegar on Dec. 22, when they witnessed Phenegar of Elgin. Phenegar fled on foot before being caught, according to St. Charles TribLocal. Seidel was arrested for possessing a stolen car and forgery in connection with a series of crimes.

Phenegar is charged with robbing the Elgin State Bank on Dec. 20, according to a story in the Daily Herald. FBI and local police say Phenegar handed the teller a note saying he was armed with a gun, then made off with $4,000 from the teller's box.

In a press release, the Chicago office of the FBI said Phenegar in the Dec. 5 robberies at a Fifth Third Bank branch in Wheaton and the First State Bank branch in Geneva, and the Dec. 9 robbery of the TCF Bank branch in Glendale Heights.
