Police: Metra Fatality Apparent Suicide

Police think the woman who was struck and killed by a train last week committed suicide. Here are more details.

Glen Ellyn Police think the 56-year-old Glen Ellyn woman struck and killed by an outbound Metra train on April 3 at 1:30 p.m. committed suicide. 

An eyewitness among other evidence leads Glen Ellyn Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer to believe the fatality was not an accident.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office has not released any additional information and a spokesperson told Patch the office is still waiting on toxicology and pathology reports. 

The is survived by a sibling and parent in the Chicagoland area, said Holmer.

The suicide determination comes on the heels of the story about the Tuesday by shooting himself in the head outside the Mill Creek Market.
