William E. Callahan, 19, of 36W Ferson Creek Rd. was charged on Dec. 2 with felony theft after he, while assisted by a another man, attempted to leave the Meijer store on Randall Road without paying for items. Both men were employees of an outside company that set up displays inside the store.
According to the police report, a Meijer employee noticed a canvas shopping bag in the rear of the store and later found that items had been placed in it. Although another man was involved, reports say Callahan was arrested after video tapes showed he had pushed a shopping cart outside the store with the unpaid items.
The other man was questioned, but not charged.
