Pat Perez: Illinois Sheriff's Association Needs Your Help—And Never Solicits Over the Phone

The Kane County sheriff asks residents to donate to the Illinois Sheriff's Association, but don't be fooled by phone calls.

Like Uncle Sam, Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez wants you to become an associate member of the Illinois Sheriff's Association.

But he also wants you to know this particular invitation to help in the fight against crime comes in the mail—not over the phone.

Membership appeals go out in the mail shortly, according a Sheriff's Office press release. Individuals choosing to join the voluntary program can do so for as little as $20, while businesses can show their support for a $50 contribution. Contributions are tax-deductible.

The funding provides critically important technical resources, training and legislative support on key criminal justice issues, Perez said.

“With government funding becoming increasingly difficult to secure, the membership drive has taken on greate rimportance than ever before,” said he added. “The funding is vital to helping us carry out our mission of making our communities safer places to live, work and play.”

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association never solicits membership by telephone.

The membership program was formed, and continues, to provide citizens with an opportunity to lend their support to more effective law enforcement.

“As the need for building stronger public-private law enforcement partnerships in this country continues to escalate, programs such as this continue to grow in importance,” Perez said. “I encourage everyone receiving amembership appeal to consider joining forces with us by becoming an associate member. It is a valuable investmentin the future.”
