Oct. 3 Trial Set for Jeffrey Farrey in Infant Son’s Death

The father of 5-month-old Jackson Farrey, who is believed dead is due back in court in Texas on Jan. 15.

A former St. Charles man who is the father of a 5-month-old baby who is believed to be dead after a body was found in the New Mexico desert in November is scheduled to go to trial in October, the El Paso Times reports.

The El Paso Times cites court records indicated Jeffrey Farrey, 22, is scheduled to go to trial Oct. 3, 2014 in El Paso, Texas, and that he has a status hearing in court on Jan. 15.

Farrey, an Army specialist based in Fort Bliss, Texas, is being held in lieu of $1.5 million bail on a charge of injury to a child by omission.

Farrey, his 20-year-old wife Jenna, and their 19-month-old-son blake and Jackson were reported missing by the Army in mid-November after Jeffrey Farrey went absent without leave.

All but Jackson were found days later in a hotel in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The body of an infant believed to be Jackson was found Nov. 20 buried in the New Mexico desert about 30 miles from the Farreys’ home. New Mexico have yet to positively identify the infant’s body or the cause of death.

Earlier media reports cited prosecutors and court documents allege that Jeffrey told his father that Jackson had choked to death, and Jenna took the baby to the desert near Orogrande, N.M., where she buried the remains.

The indictment charging Jeffrey Farrey levels allegations that on Oct. 27, he failed to provide care or medical attention to Jackson. Authorities have said the remains found in the desert may have been there as long as a month.

No charges related to Jackson Farrey have been filed against Jenna Farrey, who also remains in the El Paso County Jail without bond on a probation violation after she pleaded guilty a year ago to abandonment/endangerment charges pertaining to son Blake in 2012, while her husband was deployed to Afghanistan.
