National Weather Service: Dangerously High Temperatures Tuesday

It's supposed to be in the upper 90s Tuesday, so be careful. The NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

All you had to do was see my nephew Joey's sunburn Monday to know that it's dangerous out there.

A pool party on the last day of school is one of the perks of eighth-grade promotions in Geneva, and Joe and my daughter Tricia were among the kids at the pool. Tricia got burned, just a little, but Joe really got red.

It's supposed to be even hotter today (Tuesday), with temperatures potentially getting into the upper 90s, the National Weather Service Chicago says. The NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and Special Weather Statement for our part of Kane County and all of Northern Illinois.

"LITTLE RELIEF IS EXPECTED TONIGHT ... AS TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN IN THE MID AND UPPER 70S IN MANY AREAS AND ARE LIKELY TO REMAIN AROUND 80 IN THE MORE URBANIZED AREAS OF CHICAGO.

"THE COMBINATION OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS ... STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM ... STAY OUT OF THE SUN ... AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS. CHILDREN AND PETS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN VEHICLES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

"THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE DURING HOT WEATHER WHEN THE CAR INTERIOR CAN REACH DANGEROUSLY HIGH TEMPERATURES IN A MATTER OF MINUTES!"

The good news is that it's supposed to cool down Wednesday night and Thursday, as a cold front moves in.

In the meantime, stay cool and stay safe.
