Motorcycle Passenger Killed in Crash at Kirk Road and Division Street

A 48-year-old Bolingbrook woman is pronounced dead after the motorcycle she was riding on struck a pickup truck making a U-turn on Kirk Road near Division Street.

A female motorcycle passenger was killed Sunday night when the motorcycle she was riding on collided with a pickup truck making a U-turn on Kirk Road near Division Street, Geneva Police said.

The 48-year-old Bolingbrook woman was pronounced dead at 7:48 p.m. at Delnor Hospital, about two hours after the accident, according to a Geneva Police Department press release.

The 50-year-old male motorcycle driver also was transported to Delnor Hospital "for treatment of extensive injuries," the report said. At least one of the patients was unconscious at the scene, according to initial reports.

The driver of the GMC Sierra pickup truck, a 19-year-old Bartlett man, was treated and released from the scene.

The Geneva Police Department responded to a report of an accident at the intersection of Kirk Road and Division Street at about 5:57 p.m. Sunday.

Initial reports are that the driver of the pickup truck was traveling north on Kirk Road approaching Division Street attempting to make a U-turn prior to the intersection. The driver of the motorcycle was traveling south and struck the pickup truck, the press release said.

The accident is being investigated by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Geneva Police Department.

"Due to notifications needing to be made, the names are not being released at this time," the press release said.

Batavia Police assisted Geneva officers with traffic control during this incident. Kirk Road was blocked north of Route 38 along with other roads while emergency crews were at the scene.
