Motorcycle Crash Caused by Possum, Dropped Gatorade and Other Accident Reports

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A roundup of accidents with injuries gathered July 22 from the Geneva Police Department is highlighted by the possum-related motorcycle incident in which the cyclist, reportedly and thankfully, was unhurt.

Neck and Back Pain Follow Accident at Commons Drive

The front of a Dodge Ram driven by Bradley Lichtenebert, 19, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Volt driven by Mark Stone, 53, of St. Charles around 12:10 p.m. July 15 on Geneva Commons Drive about 15 feet west of 300 North Randall Road, reports said. Stone complained of neck and back pain and was transported to Delnor Hospital, 300 South Randall Road, reports said.

Motorcycle Crash Caused by Possum

The driver of a motorcycle refused medical treatment after his attempt to avoid hitting a possum caused him to lose control and crash July 13 in the 400 block of East Side Drive. There was no apparent damage to the Honda Shadow driven by Arthur Schamne, 42, of Geneva and Schamne was able to walk away. According to reports, Schamne was driving north on East Side Drive when the possum darted in front of the motorcycle. Schamne told police he tried to avoid the animal, lost control of the motorcycle, which overturned, causing Schamne to hit the pavement.

Dropped Gatorade Leads to Accident on Kingsland Drive

The front of a Toyota RAC4 driven by Ismail Lopez, 25, of St. Charles collided with the rear of a Ford Mustang driven by Kenneth Pyle, 56, of Aurora around 5:29 p.m. July 17 on Kingland Drive about 5 feet west of East Fabyan Parkway, reports said. Lopez told police he dropped his full bottle of Gator-ade on the floor of the driver’s side seat and was trying to retrieve it when the RAV4 collided with the rear of the Ford. Pyle was taken to Delnor Hospital by Batavia Medic 51. Lopez was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and has a court date of Aug. 20.

 

Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right on East Fabyan Parkway

The front of a Nissan Sentra driven by Ieva Davick, 38, of Naperville collided with the rear of a Jeep Liberty driven by Jacqualyn Nickon, 46, of Wheaton around 9:04 a.m. July 5 at the intersection of East Fabyan Parkway and Kingsland Drive, reports said. Nickon’s Liberty was stopped on the inside lane of westbound East Fabyan Parkway waiting to make an illegal left turn onto Kingsland Drive, reports said. Davick’s Sentra was westbound on East Fabyan talking on her cellphone when she attempted to step on the brake but instead stepped on the gas pedal, reports said. Nickon complained of neck pain and was taken to Delnor Hospital by Medic 52 Davick was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and has a court date of Aug. 6.
