More Home Burglaries Reported in St. Charles

The following is a press release from the St. Charles Police Department. 

The St. Charles Police Department responded to a home burglary on Monday at 6 p.m. in the 0 to 100 block of Roosevelt Street.  

A resident reported that sometime between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. someone attempted to pry open a rear door. No entry was made into the residence and no property was reported missing.

A short time later officers responded to the 800 block of Gray Street reference to a reported residential burglary. The resident reported that sometime between 7:45 am and 5:30 pm an unknown person(s) had forcibly entered the residence. Entry appears to have been gained by prying open a rear service door.

Both locations were processed for potential evidence and a neighborhood canvass was conducted. 

This is the fourth such incident reported to St. Charles Police since February 24. 

On Feb. 24 an unknown subject had reportedly attempted forced entry into a residence in the 500 blk. of North Tyler Road on the city’s east side but was startled by a resident and fled the area.  

On Feb. 27 an unknown subject forced entry into a residence in the 500 blk. of McKinley Street.  All reported incidents have occurred during daylight hours.  These incidents remain active investigations.

Homeowners are reminded to ensure their residence is properly equipped with quality security type door locks, deadbolts, adequate lighting and ensure that doors and windows are free from obstructions which limit their visibility. 

Secure financial resources and other valuables inside the residence that limit your potential loss and reduce the chance that you will be a victim of financial crime or other fraud activity. Do not leave valuables or keys in your vehicle and do not leave vehicles unlocked.
