Miscellaneous Mischief: Underage Drinking, a Wrecked Yard and a Stolen Bike

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A stolen bike, a yard wrecked and underage drinking among the crimes and misdemeanors in Geneva collected in last week's police reports.

Theft Over $500—Someone took a bicycle from the bike rack at the , 710 Western Ave., sometime between 6:15 p.m. Nov. 8 and 7 p.m. Nov. 11, reports said. The owner said she used a gray and black combination cable lock to secure the bicycle to the rack and got a ride home because it was raining. The Trek mountain bike is valued at $800.

Criminal Damage to Property Over $300—Someone drove a sports utility vehicle or van into a yard in the 0-100 block of Burgess Road sometime around 11 p.m. Nov. 19, reports said. The resident said he heard a commotion in front of his home and went outside to check, when he saw a large vehicle driving south on Burgess Road. A 10-by-10-foot area had been driven on and damaged. The owner estimated sod replacement would cost $300.

Liquor Violation Consumption by a Minor—Geneva police arrested Alexander Surdynski, 20, of Batavia on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and possession of alcohol by a minor around 11:47 p.m. Nov. 22 in the 500 block of South First Street, reports said. Surdynski was issued a citation for underage drinking which carries a fine of $100 if paid by the due date. He has a court date of 9 a.m. Dec. 20 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road.
