Miscellaneous Mischief: Take $250 From Car, Then Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em

Police reports: Car burglaries and thefts collected from reports last week include the incident of someone taking $250 in cash from the center console and a pack of cigarettes from the front seat of an automobile.

Apologies to the victim, but it does seem to be tempting fate when one leaves $250 in cash on the console and four packs of cigarettes on the car seat.

And FYI, cowhorn handlebars are the ones that turn up and look kind of like a steer's horns.

Here's are some of the miscellaneous items found last week in Geneva police reports:

Burglary from Motor Vehicle—Someone took $250 in cash and four packs of Camel Menthol Cigarettes from a car parked in the street in front of a residence in the 1700 block of Pheasant Run Place sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. Sept. 1, reports said. The money was located in the center console, and the cigarettes were on the front passenger seat, reports said.

Theft Under $500—Someone took a 21-speed mountain bike with cowhorn handlebars and a rear tire rack sometime between 1 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 28 that had been locked to a tree with a cable in the alley behind Dorn Marketing, 121 W. State St., reports said. The estimated value of the bicycle is $200.

Criminal Damage to Property—Someone damaged the driver’s side of a Nissan Murano parked in a business parking lot in the 800 block of West State Street sometime between 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Aug. 29, reports said. The victim found scratches and gouge marks on both doors of the driver’s side. The estimated cost of repair is $1,500.
