Miscellaneous Mischief: Spray-Painted Car, Slashed Tires, Punctured Gas Meter

Criminal damage to property gets a little scary when a punctured gas meter is involved.

Among this week's miscellaneous mischief in Geneva is damage to cars and to the gas meter of an apartment.

Criminal Damage to Property—Someone punctured a hole in the casing of a gas meter of an apartment in the 100 block of North Fifth Street between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30, reports said. Police responded to the residence, which consists of an upper and lower apartment and talked to the owner, who said he smelled gas in the apartment and contacted Nicor. A Nicor employee cut off the gas and replaced the meter. Cost is estimated at $195.

Criminal Damage to Property—Someone slashed two tires of a Buick Lesabre parked outside Petco, 1885 S. Randall Road, sometime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 29, reports said. The two tires were on the passenger side. Estimated cost to replace the tires is $200.

Criminal Damage to Property Under $500—Someone took dark gray spray paint to a Acura MDZ parked in the driveway of a home in the 500 block of Ford Street sometime between 9 p.m. Sept. 29 and 8:20 a.m. Sept. 30, reports said. The owner estimated it would cost $300 to repair the damage.
