Miscellaneous Mischief from Geneva Police Reports

Vandalism and criminal damage to property are among the items in the police blotter.

Attempted burglary by a baker, perhaps? Someone appeared to throw flour in a vehicle of a van after breaking the window of the van. This and other strange tales are found in the Geneva police blotter.

Criminal Damage to Property Under $300—Someone smashed the front passenger window of a van parked in the Public Storage facility, 2324 Gary Lane, sometime between June 12 and 4:45 p.m. June 22, reports said. There was a powdery substance, possibly flour, covering the passenger side of the vehicle. “It appeared as if the subject(s) broke the window and then threw flour inside,” reports said.

Criminal Damage to Property Under $300—Someone broke the front glass door of Plass Distinctive Appliances, 1881 South Randall Road, sometime between 9 p.m. June 22 and 9 a.m. June 23, reports said. It did not appear that anyone gained access to the building, reports said.

Vandalism—Someone painted graffiti on second-story windows of a vacant building at 715 Hamilton St., the former Cetron Inc. building now owned by the Geneva Library District. The graffiti was painted sometime between 7:25 p.m. May 26 and 10:20 a.m. June 16, reports said. The property manager, JCF Real Estate, said they would “have a maintenance employee eradicate the graffiti as soon as possible.”
