Miscellaneous Mischief: $40 From a Highlander on State Street and 2-by-4 of Mailbox 'Broken in Half'

Geneva police reports show suburban crime—mailbox damage and car burglary.

When it comes to crime in Geneva, the "usual suspects" are mailbox damage and vehicle burglary. Here are two items of "miscellaneous mischief" from last week's police blotter.

Burglary—Someone took $40 in cash sometime between 2:15 and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 from a Toyota Highlander parked in the 500 block of West State Street. The burglar entered the car through an unlocked door and took $40 from a backpack, reports said.

Criminal Damage to Property—Someone broke the 2-by-4 post of a mailbox in the 200 block of Abbey Lane sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Sept. 23, reports said. The officer said the mailbox was “bent over and the 2-by-4 post was broken in half.” The estimated value of the mailbox is $250.
