Man Killed in Single-Car Crash on Route 25 in Batavia
A 1990 Mercedes Benz cuts across the oncoming, southbound lane, leaves the roadway, goes airborne and strikes a tree on the west side of the roadway, killing a 32-year-old Aurora man.
Batavia police are investigating a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday on Route 25 in Batavia that took the life of an Aurora man and injured a passenger.
According to a Batavia Police Department press release, Salvador J. Esparza, 32, of Aurora was killed after he lost control of his white 1990 Mercedes Benz around 12:57 a.m. Oct. 16 in the 600 block of South River Street. The vehicle cut across the oncoming, southbound lane, left the roadway, went airborne and struck a tree on the west side of the roadway.
Esparza and a passenger in the vehicle, 33-year-old Amos Martinez of Aurora, were ejected from the vehicle.
Both were transported to Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora, where Esparza was pronounced dead and Martinez remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation remains open by the Batavia Police Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction team.
