Torres had faced domestic violence charges in DuPage County relating to an incident in Naperville with the same woman prior to the St. Charles arrest. Torres was set for trial in that case, but the woman—the state's complaining witness—failed to appear to testify, prompting the charges to be dropped, court records indicate.

Torres was given court supervision on a suspended license charge related to the incident.
