Several police agencies searched the northwest area of North Aurora for Martrell Harris after the stabbing. He was eventually found under a pile of debris in the garage of the home where the stabbing took place, police said.

Investigators determined that Harris was hiding under the debris the entire time, said Scott Buziecki, North Aurora Police deputy chief. Police had searched the inside of the house upon arrival but did not locate Harris right away.

There were other Harris family members at the home on Monday at the time of the stabbing, but they left the property before Martrell Harris was taken into custody, Buziecki said.

The next court date for this case is Aug. 30 for a status hearing, according to court records.
