Kane County: Drifting Snow Makes Roads 'Impassible'

Route 38 between Elburn and Maple Park closed Sunday night due to severe travel conditions.

Kane County has issued a warning to drivers, asking them to stay off the roads Monday.

Also, Route 38 was closed earlier due to drifting snow that's causing roads to be "impassible," according to Kane County Sheriff's Office officials.

"Those that are clear are ice covered," Sheriff's Office spokesman Patrick Gengler said in a press release. "If you MUST travel today please plan ahead and take extra precautions and plan on being stuck."

On Sunday night, Gengler reported that Route 38 between Elburn and Maple Park "is closed due to the drifting snow causing the roads to be impassable."

Route 30 in the Big Rock area was also closed.

"IDOT notified Kane County Officials they are not able to change their routes to address specific roadways.  Stranded motorists might be stuck for an extended period of time until the State of Illinois plows are reach those areas," Gengler said.
