The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Batavia police report an incident involving juveniles, an air rifle and marijuana—not a good combination, generally speaking.
While on routine foot patrol, a Batavia police officer observed several juvenile subjects in Carriage Crest Park, 1000 Parkview Drive, who had in their possession two airsoft guns “that were exact replicas of real firearms,” according to a Batavia Pollice Department report filed around 4:19 p.m. May 25.
During a search of the subjects’ backpacks, the officer discovered a container with suspected cannabis and a glass cannabis pipe. in one of the bags.
The offender, a male juvenile admitted to purchasing the items earlier in the day. The subject was taken into custody, processed and released to his mother. A referral was made to the juvenile officer.
