In Courts: 'Usual Suspect' Cases Include Kane Coroner, George Smith, Plus Some Murder and a Triple-Murder Hearings in DuPage

In courts: All are innocent until proven guilty, and here are court cases coming up in Kane and DuPage counties.

"Round up the usual suspects," Capt. Renault says in Casablanca.

So it is, perhaps, with this week's "In Court" watch list.

KANE COUNTY

Geneva—The State's Attorney's Office will formally ask at a May 17 hearing for a judge to appoint an outside attorney to represent and two deputies in a lawsuit filed against the trio by Chief Deputy Loren Carerra over office misconduct and retaliation.

Geneva—, man accused of causing State Street wreck in failed suicide attempt, is back in court on May 20 for what is expected to be a plea agreement.

DUPAGE COUNTY

Darien—returns to court May 20 for another hearing in his triple-murder case. His most recent appearances have been focused on his attorney's push to get all types of reports and other information to support their defense that Jacob Nodarse might have acted on his own because of psychological issues.

Darien—This needs to be confirmed, but it looks like sentencing for is going to be moved from the May 26 date set last week. 

Downers Grove— (theft from football program) is scheduled for status hearing on May 17.

Downers Grove— (murder) also scheduled for a May 17 status hearing.

Downers Grove— (official misconduct) is set for a May 19 hearing, which might get more into the background of the informant used to gather evidence against Caudill.

Glen Ellyn— returns to court May 19 for status hearing in Rolling Meadows sex assault case.
