In Courts: Child Battery, Attempted Murder, and a Guy Challenging Red-Light Cameras

In courts this week: From the St. Charles aggravated battery case to the Naperville man challenging a red-light-camera ruling, there are stories of interest being played out in area courtrooms this week.

Here's the roundup of cases we're following this week. They include the usual suspects of James Cooper and Kathleen Koch in St. Charles.

In DuPage County, you've got some high-profile cases—murder, child pornography—and at least two cases of tangential interest to Tri-Cities folks: a guy challenging red-light cameras in Naperville and man sentenced to prison who was involved in a Metra station explosion.

St. Charles—The -aggravated battery to a child cases are coming up. Both have pleaded not guilty to charges related to serious injuries suffered by Koch's daughter in an October attack. Koch is in court May 5 for a status hearing.

St. Charles—(attempted murder) is supposed to appear in DuPage on May 5 for his domestic battery case involving the same woman as the Kane County case.

Burr Ridge— (murder) is scheduled for a May 4 hearing on a defense request to introduce evidence at trial that someone other than Gilbert killed Jason Dragos. Prosecutors object, saying the defense lacks specificity.

Elmhurst— (child pornography) is scheduled for a May 5 hearing.

Hinsdale— (Metra station explosion) is scheduled for a May 6 hearing in federal court in Chicago. He recently was sentenced to prison for a similar conviction in Utah.

Naperville—
(child pornography) is scheduled for status hearing on May 4.

Naperville—, of Downers Grove, goes to court for initial hearing  on his request to have judicial review of a red-light ticket he received in Naperville. He's fighting to keep his driving record clean because he wasn't driving the car at time of ticket. The red-light part of the story is of interest to Geneva-area folks.

Wheaton—  was a Wheaton City Council candidate facing charges of domestic battery. He returns to court May 3 for a status hearing.
