In Court: Arraignment for Man Charged with Beating 2-Year-Old, Guy Who Allegedly Mailed Himself Marijuana, Triple Murder Status

This week, the dance card in court is full of unusual participants, from the music store owner who allegedly mailed himself marijuana to a triple-murder status hearing.

Among the goings-on in court this week are the Geneva couple challenging Kane County about their tax payment, an arraignment hearing for the man accused of beating a 2-year-old in St. Charles, a former Tinley Park music store owner who might have actually mailed himself 14 pounds of marijuana, and a status hearing on a triple murder case in Darien.

KANE

Geneva—A judge is expected to hear arguments Feb. 23 on a motion to dismiss in the case of a seeking an injunction against the Kane County Treasurer's Office because it wouldn't accept a property tax payment. The county says it has no legal requirement to take duplicate payments—the taxes were bought at a tax sale—and the couple claims the refusal has made it hard for them to refinance their home.

St. Charles—The LTC Group, which owns property in downtown St. Charles, is seeking an injunction against the city because it reportedly encroached onto LTC property when it marked and built the new parking deck. We just took a brief look at the records, but it seems like a quirky issue to pop out of the massive downtown redevelopment project that transformed part of St. Charles.
