If You're Charged at Night, You Might Be in Hoosegow Until 7AM

Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez announced change in procedure for bond between 10:30 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez is announcing a change to the procedures relating to the bonding out and release of inmates from the Kane County Adult Justice Center.

Effective immediately Sheriff’s Office corrections staff will no longer accept bond and release inmates from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.

According to a Sheriff's Office press release, the change was made "due to the
very low numbers of inmates being released during these hours."

"The costs to maintain adequate staffing in the intake and release unit of the corrections facility exceeds the demands placed on the officers to perform these tasks during these overnight hours," the press release said. "Citizens can still post credit bond via the Sheriff’s Office website; however, the release of that inmate will not occur until after 7 a.m."
