Officials are still investigating the case.
The Geneva Police Department is still investigating the death of a pedestrian killed Tuesday by a freight train in Geneva but hopes to be able to provide identification by Monday, June 3.
Geneva police Cmdr. Julie Nash said the department had hoped to provide information to the public this week but could not because of a delay in the investigation.
Nash underlined that the department anticipates being able to release the information on Monday, but couldn't guarantee the timing.
Geneva Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Randall Road and Keslinger Road around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, for a report of a pedestrian struck by a train.
Upon arrival, the victim was discovered on the railroad tracks in the 2000 block of Gary Lane, which is east of Randall Road. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Metra's West Line commuter trains were held up, but the mile-long train did not block any major street intersections.
