Hit-and-Run Drivers in Minivans Hit Mailbox, Acura

Police reports: In separate incidents, a maroon minivan takes out a mailbox on Fargo and a brown minivan rear-ends an Acura on Old Kirk.

What is it with the blotter this week, "Minivans Gone Wild"?

A brown minivan hits a parked Acura and a maroon minivan runs over a mailbox. Here are the police reports:

Hit and Run—Someone ran over a mailbox in the 2200 block of Fargo Boulevard about 550 feet east of Randall Road around 11:24 a.m. Jan. 21, Geneva police reports said. A witness told police he was standing in his driveway when he saw a maroon minivan strike his neighbor’s mailbox. The minivan had unknown, temporary Illinois registration and had been travelling west on Fargo when it lost control and struck the mailbox. The witness said the vehicle might have been damaged on the front passenger-side quarter panel.

Hit and Run—An older-model brown minivan rear-ended an Acura TL stopped in the 1500 block of East State Street near the intersection with Old Kirk Road, then fled on East State Street, according to Geneva police reports. A witness told police the driver was a male Hispanic between 17 and 22 years old. Roadway conditions were very poor and likely contributed to the accident, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.
