High Water Means Danger at the Dam

It's not exactly swimming weather, but it's still a good reminder that that river is especially powerful, and dangerous, when it is this high.

With the river as high as it is due to the , and with more, it's a good time to remember to stay clear of the dam on the Fox River.

Attached are some images and video of the river as it is on Washington's Birthday, Feb. 21.

The reason for the reminder can be seen in website headlines from the past couple years.

This isn't near Geneva, but elsewhere on the Fox, a woman in Omro, WI, who allegedly was drunk and high on marijuana was charged with homicide in November for the drowning death of you 8-month-old son. That news from the Topix and Oshkosh Northwestern website.
In Cook County, three teens drowned in November of 2008 in Algonquin. Jimmy Avant, 18, tried to rescue friends from a sinking paddleboat, the Chicago Tribune and others reported. The deaths happened during a leadership retreat at North Lawndale College Prep.
