Heads Up for Father's Day Weekend: Roadside Safety Checks in Kane

Illinois State Police announce roadside safety checks in Kane County from 11 p.m. Friday, June 14, to 4 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013.

The Illinois State Police will conduct a Roadside Safety Check in Kane County from 11 p.m. Friday, June 14, until 4 a.m. Saturday, June 15, according to Captain Joe Perez.

The RSC will be held on the exit ramp from the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) to Illinois Route 31.

The ISP has zero tolerance for impaired driving in Illinois. Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Alcohol and drug impairment is a significant factor in nearly 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, according to an Illinois State Police pres release.

"RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road," the press release said.

The project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
