Heads Up: Fire Hydrant Tests Coming, West of Randall Road

Be ready for a few wet streets when fire hydrant testing starts May 8.

The Geneva Fire Department, in cooperation with the Geneva Water Department, will be conducting water flow tests from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, through Thursday, May 10.

Tests will be performed on in the Eagle Brook subdivision, and all areas west of Randall Road.

"These tests not only provide valuable information on water supplies available for fire fighting but are also used to determine where upgrades to the water supply system may be needed," a Fire Department press release said.

Residents might see rust in the water during or immediately after the testing.

The Fire Department says the water is safe, but you shouldn't do laundry until the water is clear. If rusty water discolors your clothes, you can contact the Geneva Public Works Department at 630-232-1501 to request a rust-removing solution packet.
