Geneva's 36th Police Officer Takes Oath of Office

Newest officer begins 26 weeks of training.

For Geneva's newest police officer, McKenna O’Kray, police work is all in the family.

McKenna O'Kray took the oath of office as Geneva's 36th police officer during a brief introduction Monday, Sept. 16, at the City Council Committee of the Whole meeting.

McKenna's mom, Lisa, a property/evidence officer at Glenview Police Department who also has worked with the city of Elmhurst Police Department, was present to watch the swearing-in ceremony conducted by City Clerk Lynn Landberg.

McKenna was a general manager at a hotel until she interviewed and landed the job at Geneva. She will attend the police academy training for 12 weeks and then field training for 14 weeks before starting with the city of Geneva.

She is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and enjoys photography.
