Geneva Traffic Stop Turns to Drug Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A speeding ticket turned into charges of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana for a 28-year-old Geneva man.

Geneva police arrested Austin Ridgeway on charges of DUI alcohol, possession of more than 2.5 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding after a traffic stop at around 12:10 a.m. March 10 in the 300 block of West State Street, Geneva police reports said.

Ridgeway was driving his Pontiac Grand Am west on State Street when he was stopped for going 37 mph in a 25 mph zone. The complaint states that Ridgeway knowingly had in his possession 2.7 grams of marijuana as well as a multicolored glass smoking pipe.
