Geneva Theft Reports: Victims Range From Retail Stores to Church Choirs

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Geneva police made one arrest and logged several reports of theft between Jan. 11 and Jan. 16.

Retail Theft Arrest—Geneva police arrested Eriberto Vega, 44, of Aurora on charges of retail theft  following an incident at around 2:20 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Dominick’s grocery store chain, 2000 South Randall Road, reports said. The complaint in the 16th Circuit Court says Vega took a glass 750 ml bottle of St. Germain liqueur valued at $68.79. Vega has a court date of Feb. 19 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

Theft Under $500—Someone took an antique steel orange milk can from the front porch of a residence in the 0-100 block of Crissey Avenue sometime between 10:10 p.m. Jan. 14 and 10 a.m. Jan. 15, reports said. The resident estimated the value of the milk can at about $30.

Thefts From Church Choir Under $500—Someone took $50 in cash from the purse of a First Baptist Church choir singer sometime between 10:40 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. Jan. 13 at the church at 2300 South Street, reports said. A second member of the choir also was a theft victim, reports said. The second person told police that someone took an Apple iPhone 4S from a jacket pocket between 10:40 a.m. and 11 a.m. Jan. 13. The iPhone was valued at $300. 

Theft Under $500—Someone took an iPod Touch from belongings left by a seventh-grader at Geneva Middle School North during the Geneva Jive school function, sometime between 3:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Jan. 11, reports said. The iPod Touch was valued at $230.
