UPDATE: Local Runners Among Those Unhurt in Boston Marathon Explosions That Kill 3

Richard Hill of Geneva and the St. Charles Multisport Madness Triathlon Club tells about the tragedy. Nine runners from Geneva are listed as participating in the race; none from Batavia.

When two bombs went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon, at least one Geneva resident was spared because he crossed the finish line a half-hour before the blasts.

The Chicago Tribune quotes Richard Hill of Geneva, who was lucky enough to be done with the race about 30 minutes before the explosions, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Hill is a Geneva resident and member of Multisport Madness Triathlon Club, which is based in St. Charles.

Hill told the Tribune he was grateful that his relatives had watched the race from the midpoint, rather than the finish line, where the bombs exploded.

Several of Hill's teammates were running in the marathon.
