Geneva Crime Miscellany: Underage Drinking, Cannabis, Burglary, Domestic Battery and More

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

This week's potpourri of crime includes everything but the kitchen sink. From underage drinking to cannabis to an accident with injuries. Here's the lineup:

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor—Geneva police arrested Darian Romero, 19, of Montgomery on charges of speeding 56 mph in a 45 mph zone and Illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor after a traffic stop around 3:14 a.m. April 27 in the 900 block of South Randall Road, reports said. He also was given a warning notice for having an unlit left front headlight. The underage drinking citation carries a fine of $250 if paid by the due date.

Possession of Cannabis—Geneva police arrested Tyler Fisk, 20, of Geneva on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis around 12:01 a.m. April 27 after a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Keslinger Road, reports said. Fisk also was given a warning notice for having no rear registration license plate light. He has a court date of May 21 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

Burglary—Someone took an IBM ThinkPad laptop computer from a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Commons Drive sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. April 15, reports said. The laptop was valued at $699.

Domestic Battery—Geneva police arrested Jonathan Weiss, 35, of Geneva on charges of domestic battery insulting/provoking contact and domestic battery bodily harm to a family member after an incident around 6:44 a.m. April 20 in the 1000 block of West State Street, reports said. The complainant told police her Weiss, her ex-boyfriend, were involved in a verbal argument when Weiss tried to walk past her to enter the residence. The complainant tried to stand her ground, but he pushed her shoulders and chest several times with both his hands. She eventually stumbled out of the doorway and yelled at Weiss to leave her alone. He left before police arrived.

Accident with Injuries—The front of a Toyota Tacoma SRS driven by Chris VanCamp, 34, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Ford Ranger driven by Mohammad Ghazali, 62, of Batavia around 6 p.m. April 23 in the 0-99 block of East Fabyan Parkway about a half-mile east of Batavia Avenue, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Ghazali and his passenger, Gulshan Ghazalik 50, were taken to Delnor Hospital in Medic 51. VanCamp refused treatment. VanCamp was charged with driving too fast for conditions and has a court date of May 21.
