Geneva Blotter: Domestic Battery, $1,500 Bike Stolen, Underage Drinking

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are miscellaneous items collected Aug. 28 from the Geneva Police Department files.

$1,500 Bicycle Stolen

Someone took a woman’s Ridley Boreas bicycle from an open garage in the 100 block of Richards Street sometime between 5 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on either May 8, May 15 or May 22, reports said. The bicycle had a value of $1,587.50, and the owner showed police the receipt. The report was made at around 6.44 p.m. Aug. 25.

Consumption of alcohol by a Minor

Geneva police cited Ernando Lopez, of Aurora for consumption of alcohol by a minor around 12:22 p.m. Aug. 25 in the 200 block of Larsdotter Lane, reports said. The citation carries a fine of $250 if paid by its due date.

Argument Over Kids' Medical Bills Escalates

Geneva police arrested John Thurlow, 44, of Geneva on charges of domestic battery bodily harm and insulting or provoking contact after an incident around 7:15 a.m. Aug. 20, reports said. According to the complainant, Thurlow arrived at the residence of his ex-wife and spoke about their children’s past medical bills. Reports said Thurlow grabbed her around the neck and squeezed, then left the scene. Police found him at his residence and took him into custody.
