Geneva Accident Reports Roundup: 3 Weeks' Worth of Collisions

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Here are three week's worth of traffic reports, collected from the files of the Geneva Police Department.

Accident at Seventh and Campbell Streets—The front of a Toyota Camry driven by Esther Barclay-Steel, 51, of Geneva collided with the front of a Honda Civic driven by Shelby Gustillo, 21, of Batavia around 2:55 p.m. Dec. 8 at the intersection of Seventh Street and Campbell Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle and a tow was required after the crash, reports said. Barclay-Steel was issued a warning notice for making an improper left turn.

Accident at Route 31 and Third Street—The front of a Toyota Camry driven by Kathryn Lacy, 48, of Geneva collided with the front of a Ford Fusion driven by Catherine Phillips, 67, of Geneva around 8:20 a.m. Dec. 8 at the intersection of Batavia Avenue and Third Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Lacy was charged with disobeying a traffic control signal and has a court date of Jan. 22, reports said.

Accident with Injury—The front of a Nissan Altima driven by Robert Crawford, 47, of Elgin collided with the rear of a Hyundai Sonata driven by Sofia Boussaha, 21, of Campton Hills around 11:02 a.m. Dec. 8 in the 300 block of South Randall Road about 5 feet north of Keslinger Road, reports said. Crawford complained of neck pain and a passenger in the vehicle complained of side pain, but no one was transported to the hospital. Crawford was cited for driving too fast for conditions and has a court date of Jan. 22.

Accident at Valley Lane and Ridge Lane—The front of a Honda Acura driven by Laura Pond, 31, of Geneva collided with the front of a Toyota RAV4 driven by Esperanza Rodriguez, 70, of West Chicago, around 12:15 p.m. Dec. 6 at the intersection of Valley Lane and Ridge Lane, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Pond was issued a warning notice for making an improper turn.

Accident on Hamilton Street—The rear of a Suburu Legacy driven by Eileen Elms, 68, of St. Charles collided with the passenger side of a Honda Accord driven by Dale Morgan, 61, of Geneva around 1:20 p.m. Dec. 5 in the 400 block of Hamilton Street about 40 feet east of Fifth Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

One-Car Accident on Crissey Avenue—The front and passenger side of a Buick LeSabre driven by Terry Ward, 82, of Geneva was damaged when the front left tire struck the raised median barrier in the 200 block of Crissey Avenue, causing the vehicle’s ball joint to break. The vehicle continued south and struck the guardrail on the west side of the roadway.

Accident on East Fabyan Parkway—The front of a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Sharron Dorr, 68, of Geneva collided with the rear of  a Honda Civic driven by Alexander Shemyaken, 53, of Geneva around 5:15 p.m. Nov. 26 in the 200 block of East Fabyan Parkway about 100 feet east of Route 25, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Dorr was issued a warning citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Failure to Give Notice of Accident—Geneva police charged Kent Grayson, 76, of St. Charles with failure to give notice after an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident following a collision around 12:10 p.m. Nov. 26 in the 1500 block of East State Street about 5 feet east of Kirk Road, reports said. According to reports, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Matthew Chambers, 43, of Palatine was rear-ended while attempting to turn right on Kirk Road. Chambers said he pulled over but Grayson’s Ford Escape continued north on Kirk Road. Chambers began following the Escape until it was stopped by St. Charles police. Grayson told police he did collide with the Malibu but did not think there was any damage. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident at West State Street and Sixth Street—The front of a Honda Pilot driven by jean Larson, 50, of Geneva collided with the rear of a Lexus ES300 driven by Eric Bain, 45, of Sycamore around 5:12 p.m. Nov. 28 at the intersection of West State and Sixth Street, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Larson was issued a warning notice for following too closely. 

Accident with Injuries—The front of a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Dyler Wanner, 21, of Geneva collided with a Ford Expedition driven by Olglandina Martinez, 43, of Batavia around 9:50 a.m. Nov. 30 on Anderson Boulevard about 5 feet east of West State Street, reports said. Less than $500 damage was done to the Blazer, but Martinez was taken to Delnor Hospital by Medic 251. Wanner was charged with driving with a revoked or suspended license, reports said. He has a court date of Jan. 22, reports said. Wanner also was issued a warning citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Accident with Injuries on Randall Road—The front of a Jeep Liberty driven by Lawrence Kamps, 56, of Aurora collided with the rear of a Nissan Rogue driven by Virginia Ewing, 40, of Geneva around 12:46 p.m. Nov. 20 in the 2100 block of South Randall Road about 130 feet south of Gleneagle drive, reports said. Between $501 and $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle but Ewing was transported to Delnor Hospital by Batavia Medic 152. Reports said Kamps was distracted by a radio when his vehicle collided with Ewing’s. He was issued a warning notice for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Accidnet on Private Property on Vanderbuilt Drive—the rear of a Mazda CX-7 driven by Robert Geniusz, 65, of Geneva collided with the driver’s side of a parked Honda Civic on private property in the 2300 block of vanderbuilt Drive, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

Accident at Fisher Drive and Heartland Drive—The front of a Mercury Marquis driven by Adham Husni, 40, of Glendale Heights collided with the passenger side of an Acura tL driven by Laird Wilson, 40, of Geneva around 9:35 a.m. Dec. 2 at the intersection of Fisher Drive and Heartland Drive, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Husni was issued a warning notice for failure to yield turning left.

Accident on Randall Road—The front of a Honda Pilot driven by Katherine Gabris, 32, of Batavia collided with the rear of a Jeep Laredo driven by Barbara Faron, 69, of Elburn around 11 a.m. Nov. 19 in the 400 block of Randall Road about 30 feet south of Kaneville Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Gabris was issued a warning notice for following too closely. 

Accident on Randall Road—The rear of a Honda Civic driven b John Fitzsimmons, 33, of Aurora collided with the front of a Dodge Avenger driven by Brenda Rowland, 40, of Montgomery around 8 a.m. Nov. 19 in the 1900 block of Randall Road about 40 feet south of Gleneagle Drive, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle. Fitzsimmons was cited for disobeying a lane traffic control signal.

Accident on Private Property on Randall Road—The rear of a GMC Sierra driven by Marilyn Swiney, 61, of Sycamore collided with the rear of a Ford Astro van driven by Karen Zedonis, 44, of St. Charles around 10:30 a.m. Nov. 19 on private property in the 300 block of Randall Road, reports said. More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

One-Car Accident on Fisher Drive—The front of a Hyundai Elantra driven by Matthew Schmalz, 16, of Geneva collided with a city of Geneva electrical box around 11:50 a.m. Nov. 19 in the 400 block of Fisher Drive, reports said. Schmalz’ Elantra was traveling north on Fisher Drive approaching the intersection with Border Road when the driver accelerated through the turn and lost control of the vehicle, striking the electrical box. Damage to any one person’s vehicle or property was estimated at more than $1,500. 

Accident on South Randall Road—The front of a Hyundai Sonata driven by Cythia Zimniewicz, 57, of Elgin collided with the rear of a Ford Escape driven by Joy Walsh, 45, of St. Charles around 3:15 p.m. Nov. 24 in the 1400 block of South Randall Road about a quarter-mile south of Fargo Boulevard, reports said.  More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle, and an injury or tow resulted from the crash. 

Accident on Commons Drive—The rear of a Freightliner Tractor driven by Juan Gonzalez, 42, of Chicago collided with a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Joshua Thompson, 37, of Geneva around 11:15 a.m. Nov. 24 on Commons Drive More than $1,500 damage was done to any one vehicle.
