Geneva 19-Year-Old Charged With Leaving Scene of Accident, Underage Drinking
The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Geneva police arrested David Del Guidice, 19, of Geneva on charges of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident around 5 a.m. May 27 in the 2500 block of Kaneville Road, Geneva police reports said.
According to reports, Del Guidice was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse east on Kaneville Road approaching the entrance to 2525 Kaneville Road about 80 feet south of Soderquist Court, where the Eclipse crossed the double yellow line into the west lane of Kaneville Road, veered south onto the sidewalk of the business, then struck a light pole in the south side of the parking lot.
The airbag deployed, and Del Guidice abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, according to reports.
Del Guidice told police he had been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the crash, then invoked his Miranda rights and declined to speak with officers.
He had "non-incapacitating injuries" and declined medical treatment, reports said.
Del Guidice has a court date of July 9 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road.
