Flames Shoot Through Roof in 1:26AM House Fire in Eagle Brook

No one is injured; homeowners are away at the time of the fire.

No one was injured during a house fire that took place at 1:26 a.m. Aug. 27 at 1437 Pinto Court in the Eagle Brook Subdivision, the city of Geneva reports.

The Geneva Fire Department responded to the scene after a neighbor on Fargo Boulevard called 911 when smelling smoke and seeing flames coming out of the home.

First-arriving units found the first and second floors of the home burning and flames coming through the roof. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes after the initiation of suppression efforts. While a damage estimate has not been set, the structure suffered significant fire and water damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined, and the investigation is continuing.

The homeowners, Stuart and Stephanie Girgins, were not home at the time of the incident.

Assistance was provided by Batavia, Elburn, St. Charles, West Chicago, Fermilab and North Aurora. The South Elgin and Winfield Fire Departments provided apparatus and manpower to staff both of Geneva’s fire stations during the incident.
