First 2010 West Nile Case in Kane County

It's not in Geneva or St. Charles, but the first human case of West Nile was just reported by police through Nixle communication.

The County Health Department has reported its first human case of the West Nile Virus, according to a Geneva police e-blast through Nixle communication.

A 46-year-old man from Burlington was discovered with an onset of the illness in mid-August.

Earlier this week, the Kane County Health Department said it has collected positive mosquitoes in the Aurora, Batavia, Huntley, Montgomery and South Elgin  areas.
