Ethanol Tanker Truck Crash Closes I-88

Illinois State Police report a tractor-trunk crash, which is leaking ethanol, causing the closing of I-88 Monday night in DeKalb County.

A tanker truck crash on Interstate 88 at eastbound milepost 102 in DeKalb closed the tollway in both directions Monday night.

According to a preliminary report from the Illinois State Police, two passenger vehicles and one tractor tanker truck collided around 8:14 p.m. Monday, April 22, near Milepost 102 in DeKalb County.

Because the truck was leaking ethanol, all eastbound and westbound lanes were closed, the State Police said.

According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, a passenger vehicle struck the rear of another passenger vehicle, causing the second vehicle to spin to the left. As the vehicle was spinning, a truck tractor tanker struck the vehicle.

The names of the drivers were not released at the time of the report.

According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, a passenger vehiclestruck the rear of another passenger vehicle (types of vehicles have not beenreported at this time) causing the second vehicle to spin to the left. As thevehicle was spinning, a truck tractor tanker struck the vehicle. Due to the trucktractor tanker leaking ethanol, all lanes are closed as a precautionary measure.
