East Side Neighborhood Hit With 4 Vehicle Burglaries in 1 Night

GPS devices and tools taken from vehicles on Downing Place and Westfield Course.

An East Side neighborhood was hit with four vehicle burglaries, most likely in all in the wee hours of Oct. 4, and the primary target was global positioning system devices.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took a Garmin GPS, iPod Touch MP3 player, iPhone car charger and two pairs of sunglasses from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 700 block of Downing Place sometime between 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 and 7 a.m. Oct. 4, Geneva police reports said. The value of the stolen items was estimated at $360.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took a Tom Tom GPS, iPod Nano, iPod charger, cigarettes and a set of work keys from a Volvo parked in the driveway of a home in the 700 block of Downing Place sometime between 11:45 p.m. Oct. 3 and 7:10 a.m. Oct. 4, reports said. The value of the stolen items was estimated at $285.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took a garage door opener, a pair of prescription sunglasses, two pairs of sunglasses, a roadside safety kit with miscellaneous tools and miscellaneous work merchandise from a Ford Escape parked in the 600 block of Westfield Course sometime between 10 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4:30 a.m. Oct. 4, reports said. The total value of the stolen items was estimated at $500.

Vehicle Burglary—Someone took a GPS device from a Chevrolet Express parked in the driveway of a home in the 1100 block of Westfield Course sometime between 8 p.m. Oct. 3 and 6 a.m. Oct. 4, when the owner discovered the passenger door ajar, reports said. The Tom Tom GPS was in the cupholder of the center console. The value of the GPS unit was estimated at $150.
