DUI Roundup: Drivers From Geneva, West Chicago, Sugar Grove and Wheaton Charged

This is a roundup of driving-under-the influence charges collected from Geneva and Batavia police department reports.

Persons charged with a crime, or issued a citation for violation of a local ordinance, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Geneva

• Geneva police arrested Arturo Peralta, 43, of West Chicago on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, speeding, improper lane usage, and driving without a valid license around 11:55 p.m. July 4 in the 100 block of West State Street, reports said. He has a court date of Aug. 7 at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

• Geneva police arrested Juan Toniz, 41, of Geneva on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving with a suspended or revoked license and driving an uninsured motor vehicle around 2:47 p.m. June 23, in the 100 block of North Sixth Street, reports said. He has a court date of July 17.

Batavia

• Batavia police arrested John J. Howard, 59, of Sugar Grove on charges of driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, no valid driver’s license, operating a vehicle under expiration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to a report filed around 2:56 p.m. July 7. The arrest took place in the 200 block of West Wilson Street. Howard posted $300 bond and has a court date of Aug. 21.

• Batavia police arrested James Devine Jr., 33, of Wheaton on charges of driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, disobeying a traffic control device around 4:53 a.m. July 4 at the intersection of Pine and Kirk Road, reports said. Devine posted his driver’s license and $100 bond and has a court date of July 24.
