DUI-Drugs Arrest Follows One-Car Crash Into Tree on Blackman Road

The following information was supplied by the Geneva Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Geneva police arrested Rose Callaghan, 58, of Geneva on charges of driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs after her car hit a tree head-on in the 2700 block of Blackman Road around 8:14 p.m. April 20, Geneva reports said.

The front of Callahan's Nissan Murand hit the tree at around 8:10 p.m., Geneva police reports said. Callahan was transported to Delnor Hospital after the crash.

A witness to the accident told police she had been at dinner with Callahan, who was falling asleep during the meal. The witness offered to drive Callahan home, but she refused, so the witness decided to follow her home.

The witness saw Callahan’s Murand veer to the right, go over the curb and strike the tree. The witness told police Callahan was taking a new prescription drug medication.
