Smashed Windshield, Stolen Storm Grate, License-less Driver: Oak Forest Police Blotter

Oak Forest police reports, Feb. 17-19.

TUESDAY, FEB. 19

Windshield Smashed

Police were called to a parking lot in the 15900 block of LeClaire Avenue, after a victim reported criminal damage to their car.

At the scene, police spoke with the victim, who said that sometime during the day, an unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear window of the vehicle with a rock.

MONDAY, FEB. 18

Window Grate Stolen from Gaelic Park

Police were called to Gaelic Park, 6119 147th Street, after a report of a theft from the west storage area.

Sometime between Feb. 15–18, an unknown suspect(s) removed a metal grate from a window and attempted to remove aluminum soffits from the eaves of the building.

The complainant showed officers the damage, as well as a damaged fence, which was kicked in to gain entry to the property.

SUNDAY, FEB. 17

No Headlights, No License

Fidel Arriaga-Mendoza, 44, of the 4300 block of Henry Street, was cited for driving without a license and driving without headlights, following a stop in the 15300 block of Cicero Avenue.

Police stopped Arriaga-Mendoza after noticing his vehicle traveling without headlights at approximately 1:50 a.m.

During the stop, police ran Arriaga-Mendoza through their computer system, which showed Arriaga-Mendoza had no valid driver's license.

Arriaga-Mendoza was taken into custody, transported to the Oak Forest Police Station and processed, before being released on bond. Arriaga-Mendoza is scheduled to appear in court on March 22 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

The frequency of stories here on Patch of people driving with no license is eye opening. Seems to be the most often cited offense.
