Downers Grove Woman Robbed at Gunpoint: Police Blotter

Downers Grove police reports, Feb. 10.

A Downers Grove woman was reportedly robbed at gunpoint Sunday night outside her apartment.

Police said the woman was pulling into a parking spot in front of her building—located in the 2200 block of Prentiss Drive—around 6:20 p.m. when she saw a man in a white ski mask walking toward her on a path that stretches from Target, 2333 63rd St. in Woodridge, to her complex.

The man passed the rear of the woman's vehicle, then turned around and approached her with a handgun, police said. The woman told police she immediately put her hands up and started screaming, "Don't shoot me."

The man reportedly reached into the vehicle and grabbed the woman's gray purse, which contained about $60 cash, medication, makeup and other miscellaneous items. He then left the scene, running eastbound in the parking lot.

The woman told police the encounter lasted only 20 to 30 seconds.

Police said the man was described as white, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build and wearing a black sweater and black pants.

Tammy or Tommy - whatever....I think you enjoy being argumentative for the sake of the sport. Navel lint picking is fun, too. If you read the information in the story as provided and THINK about it rather than blathering on the way you seem to enjoy doing, you'd understand what the other folks are commenting about. This one is not about you, it is about the incident and the victim. Probably good if you take your need for attention elsewhere, or pick a different argument, because you sure aren't making any sense with this one.

Hindsight is 20/20, right? Just because you notice someone walking near your car doesn't mean you feel alarmed enough to lock your doors and drive off. Consider that it is night time and cold, so seeing someone walking in a ski mask isn't necessarily alarming, especially if you're in a location that you'd previously felt safe. There really is no way to know how any individual will react in a given situation like this. I'd like to think that I would do something different, but I just don't know if I would panic or be able to think quickly. I don't think we can make any judgements about the victim in this case, and no blame should be placed on her, IMHO. For me, your comment comes across as partially blaming the victim, and I just don't agree. YMMV

Tommy/Tammy is a compulsive replier. If you notice, he/she never actually posts an original thought, they merely comment on other people's posts. Perhaps they are as confused about themselves as they are about what people are commenting about. It would certainly explain the he/she identity crisis.

" Your juvenile name calling doesn’t bother me in the least; I only care about the opinions of people I respect" Yet you insist on replying to nearly every single thing I write and researching me on top of that. Obsessive much? P.S. How can I possibly be in so many places at one time? Haven't figured that one out yet Tammy, have ya?
