Damage by Rock Spit from Lawnmower? Driver's Claim Unsubstantiated

Geneva police reports: More than $1,500 damage is done to a vehicle driving on Crissey Avenue, but no one is quite sure how it happened.

In the category of unusual Geneva police reports is the story of a driver whose car sustained significant damage, but the cause might never be known.

The rear driver’s side of a Chevrolet Equinox was damaged by an unknown object while driving in the 800 block of Crissey Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 11, Geneva police reports said. The driver told police he suspected the damage—estimated at more than $1,500—was from a rock thrown from a lawnmower.

Police spoke with the worker who was cutting grass in the 800 block of Crissey Avenue when the incident took place. The worker said he did not believe the lawnmower threw a rock and denied any involvement, so the driver's claim could not be substantiated by police.
