Criminal Damage: Vodka Bottle Strikes Windshield, Playground Defaced
Police say a bottle of UV Cherry Vodka strikes the windshield and ricochetes onto the street, where it shatteres.
Criminal damage to property and criminal defacement of property reports include damage to a playground slide and a bottle of vodka hurled at a vehicle windshield. Here are the blotter items from the Geneva police files:
Offender Kicked Storm Door?
Someone damaged the aluminum frame around the screen of a storm door of a home in the 1100 block of Meadows Road sometime between 5 p.m. Aug. 20 and 4:30 p.m. Aug. 21, reports said. It appears the offender pressed or kicked in the screen, causing the frame to bend, reports said. The damage was estimated at $50.

Playground Defaced
Someone painted NR on two playground slides and a piece of playground equipment at the south playground of Geneva High School, according to a report filed at 2:28 p.m. Aug. 19. Police contacted a representative of the School District who said the maintenance department would have the paint removed. The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

Sable Scratched
Someone scratched the rear driver’s-side quarter panel and back break light of a Mercury Sable parked near a residence in the 200 block of North Cambridge sometime between 11 p.m. Aug. 2 and 5 a.m. Aug. 3, reports said. Cost to repair the damage was estimated at $500.
Explorer Damaged
Someone damaged the passenger-side mirror of a Ford Explorer sometime between 4:20 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Aug. 14 at the parking lot of 100 South Third Street, reports said. The value to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the report.
UV Cherry Vodka Blast
Someone threw a glass bottle at the front windshield of a Nissan Maxima parked in the street in the 1200 block of Shoop Drive sometime around 2 a.m. Aug. 14, reports said. The victim told police she heard two sounds of shattering glass and looked out the window in time to see at vehicle traveling south on Shoop Drive. Police said it appeared that a bottle of UV Cherry Vodka struck the windshield and ricocheted onto the street, where it shattered. The estimate to repair the windshield was $257.97.
